I started CleanRun in 2013 after watching too many homeowners get a low-ball phone quote, then a final invoice that looked nothing like it. My background is in mechanical systems, not sales, and I built this company around what I’d want if someone were crawling through my own ductwork: a written price before a single panel comes off, a camera in every run, and a crew I can name. I still ride with the team on complex jobs, especially when we’re dealing with older Ashburn homes built during the 1990s expansion, where flex duct behind finished basements turns simple cleans into half-day puzzles. On weekends you’ll find me restoring a ’72 Chevy Nova in my garage in Sterling. Slow project. Rust doesn’t rush.
Marcus T., Lead Technician
Marcus has been running negative-pressure extraction systems for eleven years, the last six with us. He’s certified in Abatement Technologies’ containment protocols and handles our trickier jobs: multi-zone systems in Ashburn’s larger single-families, rodent-damage remediation, and anything involving plenum access through tight attic hatches. He once pulled fourteen pounds of construction debris from a new-build in Brambleton, the kind of leftover drywall dust and wood scraps that builders never vacuum out. Darnell joined us in 2018 after eight years in commercial HVAC retrofit. He specializes in duct sealing and repair, the kind of work most cleaners won’t touch because it requires actual sheet metal skills, not just a vacuum hose. He’s the one we send when a homeowner in Ashburn Village or Belmont Station calls saying their upstairs never cools, and the camera shows a disconnected trunk line behind a bathroom soffit. Darnell carries the Nikro duct sealing rig and knows how to rebuild a register boot without tearing out drywall. He keeps a notebook of every house he’s worked on, street by street, like a fisherman logging catches. Says it helps him remember which attics you can stand in and which ones you crawl.
Sofia R., Service Coordinator
Sofia answers the phones and schedules every job, which means she’s the voice most Ashburn customers hear first. She’s been with us since 2019 and knows the difference between a routine maintenance clean and a job that needs Marcus or Darnell specifically. She handles the written estimates, the photo-record delivery, and the follow-up calls three days after every visit. Before CleanRun she managed dispatch for a plumbing company in Fairfax, so she’s heard every emergency excuse in the book and doesn’t fluster. She lives in Leesburg with two rescue greyhounds who, she notes, shed enough to keep our dryer vent business healthy single-handedly.
Jake P., Apprentice Technician
Jake started with us in 2023 after completing his HVAC-R program at Northern Virginia Community College. He’s working toward his full technician certification under Marcus’s mentorship, currently handling standard cleans, dryer vent runs, and the documentation protocol that comes with every job. He’s meticulous with the photo record, maybe because he’s also a hobby photographer who shoots local music venues in DC on weekends. His first solo job was a townhouse in Loudoun Valley Estates where the previous cleaner had missed a completely blocked return because they never checked behind the filter rack. Jake found it, photographed it, cleared it. That’s the standard now.
